Peter

Peter

Founder and Master Printer

Peter’s journey into print began with a passion for art. After graduating from university with a Fine Art degree, he developed a deep love for painting, often drawing inspiration from the expressive style of Monet, and channelling that same creativity through ink on canvas.

That artistic foundation soon evolved into something more tangible. Alongside his late mother, Janet, Peter co-founded Scotia Press, where he immersed himself in the craft of print. From the early days of running single-colour Harris machines and learning the intricacies of traditional print processes, he built his expertise from the ground up.

With over 50 years of experience in the industry, Peter remains at the heart of production today. He now operates a state-of-the-art 5-colour Komori (B2) press with inline coater, combining decades of craftsmanship with modern precision to deliver exceptional results.

Steve

Steve

Print and Book Production Specialist

Steve was quite literally raised in print. From a young age, he was immersed in the industry, often brought into his father’s business, Gartree Press, as a baby. Growing up around presses, paper, and craftsmanship, print became second nature to him.

Gartree Press established a strong reputation across Leicester, particularly for its expertise in book production and restoration. Under his father’s guidance, Steve developed a deep understanding of the trade, learning the skills and attention to detail that defined the business.

When his father retired, Steve took over the company, continuing its legacy while building on its foundations. With years of hands-on experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge in traditional and specialist print processes, ensuring the same high standards are upheld today.

Alex

Alex

Pre-Press and Production Specialist

Alex’s introduction to print started early, spending his Saturdays helping his dad, Peter, on the Harris press, loading jobs and getting hands-on experience from the shop floor, including regular “spud” jobs for Tesco. Those early days gave him a practical understanding of the industry that would shape his career.

After leaving college with an HND in Computer Studies, Alex combined his technical mindset with his printing roots. He went on to complete pre-press training, developing a strong skillset in file preparation, imposition, and production workflows.

Alex briefly ran his own print management company before gaining further industry experience with iPrint and Flexpress. He has since returned to Scotia Press, bringing with him a well-rounded perspective of both production and business.

With a wealth of pre-press expertise, Alex ensures all files are accurately prepared and print-ready. He also possesses exceptional finishing skills, delivering a level of precision and quality that is second to none.
